Ce chorégraphe confirmé qui a roulé sa bosse, goûté au succès et aux honneurs avant de  rentrer au pays pour repartir à nouveau fait preuve d’une énergie et d’une lucidité qui donnent son intensité à La Smala, cet ensemble de tentes abritant les gens qui suivent un chef arabe dans ses déplacements.
Pour l’auteur et son collectif, cette pièce à recevoir comme une  parabole ou une fable intemporelle s’apparente à « une plongée initiatique dans le couple paradis/enfer, ces deux êtres en moi et toi », un miroir révélateur d’un « monde intérieur onirique, cauchemardesque dans lequel les formes semblent hésiter et se modifier sans cesse, un bestiaire d’idées folles, accroupies et sans tête, couvertes d’un tissu noir à l’allure d’habits de gens d’aujourd’hui, derrière une montagne de papier kraft en forme d'échelle. La Smala, une pièce aussi visuellement aboutie que troublante.

This experienced choreographer, who has made his rounds, enjoyed success and honours before returning to his country, demonstrates an energy and a lucidity that translate into the intensity of “La Smala”, a term which designates a set of tents for the entourage of a travelling Arab chief.
This piece is to be taken as a timeless parable or fable, and for the author and his tribe, it resembles "an initiatory journey deep into the heaven/hell duality, these two selves in me and you", a mirror revealing a nightmarish internal world in which the shapes seem to hesitate and change incessantly, a bestiary of mad ideas, crouching and headless, covered in a black fabric resembling modern-day dress, behind a mountain of brown wrapping paper in the shape of a ladder. “La Smala” is a piece as visually complete as it is troubling.
